Friday night's scrimmage between Colerain and
Fairfield looked a lot different than the pair of high-stakes matchups
between the two clubs last season: a regular-season finale with the
Greater Miami Conference title on the line and a second-round playoff
game.
There were dots in the stands for
socially distant fans, each member of the team stood 6 feet apart and
everyone in attendance wore masks. Even the scoreboard wasn't the same
as no official tally was kept and the game only lasted two quarters.
Still, the fact that the two rivals were playing made Colerain head coach Shawn Cutright gracious.
"It's
football. At the end of the day, it's football and we get to line up
out here 11 on 11," Cutright said. "We get to compete in one of the
greatest games ever created. We're happy and we're proud to be here."
